Nigel Farage has set out radical plans that could mean one million people are deported. He says a Reform UK government would remove everyone who is in the UK illegally if he becomes Prime Minister. That would include people who arrive on small boats. And he says that would probably mean around 600,000 people, although it depends on how many people cross the Channel over the next few years.
And, along with Reform home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf, he also published plans to remove people who have been granted asylum in the UK but originally arrived here illegally, or whose home nations are now considered safe.
That would include another 400,000 people, Reform says. Those affected are currently in the UK legally, because they have been given asylum, but that status would be revoked.
The party would ask people to leave voluntarily – offering them a plane ticket and a £1,000 payment. Those who refused would be deported forcibly.
Reform UK says voluntary departures would be easier and cheaper than forcibly removing people. And it says that in the long run, the policy would save tens of billions of pounds for UK taxpayers.
Even so, some people might disagree with the idea of paying. What do you think? Vote in our poll below and share your views in the comment section.
