Nigel Farage writes in the Daily Express on Sir Keir Starmer’s “abject surrender” to the EU.

So, it’s happened. The Brexit betrayal by Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour party is in full swing. In 2016 we voted to take back control of our fishing waters from the EU and give a much-needed lifeline to our fishing industry. Today, we learn that Sir Keir Starmer’s much vaunted EU reset deal will grant European fishermen access to British waters for 12 years.
It’s an abject surrender and Labour have well and truly sold out our fishing industry all in the name of closer ties to an ever-diminishing political union. This isn’t Starmer’s first time bending over backwards to appease EU interests. His betrayal of British jobs and national priorities has been evident since the day he took office.

Brexit betrayal fears with UK fishermen dreading the worst as key deadline looms
He has pushed for a youth mobility scheme with the EU, which would effectively reintroduce free movement for all Europeans under the age of 30, and has nearly driven both steel and coal mining to the point of extinction
What makes this so galling is that 12 years is essentially enough to give European boats permanent access to our waters.
This is because during that time older fishermen will leave the industry, and there will be no younger ones joining, and likewise no investment in new boats.
With no new investment, the UK will quickly become an island with no fishing industry to speak of.
First, he targeted our farming industry with increased inheritance tax on family farms. Now, he’s undermining our fishing sector by granting unbridled access to EU competitors.
Starmer’s track record consistently puts foreign interests ahead of those of the British people.
A clear example is the Chagos Islands deal, which is projected to cost the taxpayer £50 billion over its lifetime. It may benefit the people of Mauritius—but it’s a raw deal for the hardworking British taxpayer.

This deal, much like that of the Chagos deal, is one that benefits everyone except our own.
In turn, this will be catastrophic for Britain’s many coastal towns, which for centuries have been sustained by our inshore fishing communities.
Only Reform UK will stand up for our fishing industry and ensure they’re protected and allowed to thrive.
I can make a clear guarantee that Reform UK would repeal this surrender deal if we win the next General Election.
We will restore our independence, fix the damage caused by the Tories failure to properly implement Brexit, and protect our industries and waters from foreign inference.
